A series of experiments to boost member growth
I worked on various conversion projects from January to April 2019, alongside a product manager, the Marketing team, two brand designers, and a team of five engineers.
My work focused on interaction, visual, and motion design. Some of the designs were built in the product while the others were used in A/B testing.
PROJECT - 01
A more flexible meter that affords a generous free article count
Medium gives non-members some free articles per month. We wanted to experiment on the number of free articles to see how it impacts member conversion. The old meter only affords three articles. How might we build an easy-to-understand meter that could go up to 10?
PROJECT - 02
A series of promotions that prompts visitors to sign up through email
Medium used to ask visitors to create accounts with no clear incentive and only through social media. This project experimented on prompting visitors to sign up to receive personalized stories in their inbox every day. We A/B tested various modules placed on different surfaces in the product.
PROJECT - 03
A free trial of membership offered through the daily newsletter
Medium sends a curated list of articles to users through a daily newsletter. This experiment offers free reading of the newsletter articles to incentivize new users to build a habit with Medium.
